History
During his experience working in commercial construction, Norman Smith Sr. recognized the need for supplying dependable rental equipment while at the same time providing immediate and trustworthy service. In 1976, Norman Smith Equipment was founded in Houston, Texas. In the early years of the company, Norman Smith Equipment rented backhoes and dozers to commercial construction companies and contractors. ‘Sr.’ would personally make sales calls and service the machines while his wife Mary Smith would handle all of the office duties from their home. Their commitment to providing personalized service radiates through our company to this day. With the oil boom in full swing, Norman Smith Equipment added to our fleet by supplying Rough Terrain cranes to chemical plants and oil refineries in the early 1980s. With the company growing, more space was needed to house the equipment. In 1990, Norman Smith Equipment moved our headquarters to the east side of Houston, TX, where we have been located since. Dependability, Trustworthy and Experience is the platform for which our company has been able to grow and succeed in the construction industry.
